Guest facilitators play a critical role in our online courses - providing expert advice and moderating discussions to engage participants.

Our facilitators work on a volunteer basis. Many have worked across a number of courses, demonstrating a high level of commitment to building the capacity of researchers and librarians in the Global South. 

Meet our Star Facilitators:

Alan Parker is a scientific consultant for Rational Formulation, Annecy, France. He is a physical chemist who has worked in R&D in a range of industries over more than 35 years. He has 40 peer reviewed publications and six patents, and he recently founded his own scientific consultancy. He has a PhD from Wageningen, Holland.
Anusha Wickramasinghe is a lecturer at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka. Her research interests include aquatic ecology, aquatic environmental management, and impacts of climate change on aquatic and coastal ecosystems. She is currently pursuing a PhD at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai as an Indian ICCR Commonwealth Scholar.
Barbara Burmen is a medical epidemiologist at Kenya Medical Research Institute with over 10 years’ experience in both the public and private sector in Kenya. She has authored over 15 publications in peer reviewed journals and has made numerous international conference presentations supported by travel, research and publication grants.
Carolyne L. A. Onyango is an educational psychologist and PhD student at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Kenya. Carolyne had her debut online learning experience at INASP's AuthorAID Research Writing Course in the summer of 2016 and crossed over from being a critic of online learning to an advocate of the same at the end of the course!
Farooq Azam Rathore is the head of the rehabilitation medicine department at PNS Shifa Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. He is a researcher with more than 100 national and international publications. He is passionate about teaching research writing and has conducted 58 workshops on different aspects of medical writing and presentation skills in four countries since 2014.
Funmilayo Doherty is a principal lecturer at Yaba College of Technology (YCT) in Nigeria. She organized the first ever online course in YCT and helped initiate the partnership between YCT and Commonwealth of Learning (COL) leading to the establishment of the Flexible Skills Development Centre at the college. She has a PhD in environmental toxicology and pollution management.
Mehraz Boolaky worked in senior managerial positions in the private sector before joining the University of Mauritius in 1993. He has been a visiting professor at universities in Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Madagascar, Morocco, France, UK, Seychelles and Reunion Island. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Certified Professional Engineer.
Richard de Grijs is a professional astrophysicist with more than 20 years of research experience. He is a long-time scientific editor of some of the main research journals in his field and the Deputy Editor of The Astrophysical Journal Letters. He is Associate Dean (Global Engagement) at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Macquarie University in Sydney (Australia).
Zainab Yunusa-Kaltungo is a plastic surgeon, hospital administrator and part time lecturer affiliated with Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe and Gombe State University in Nigeria. As an academic, she is passionate about accessing the most affordable ways of learning and disseminating research knowledge.
